Here’s a good build for farming with a beast master. It’s one of my favorite farming builds because of its versatility, it can take down just about anything you want it too.
Skills:
Enraged Lunge {E} – Factions only elite
Predator’s Pounce
Feral Lunge
Call of Haste
Call of Protection
Predatory Bond
Charm Animal
Comfort Animal
Attributes:
16 Beast Mastery
13 Expertise
Weapons:
Longbow
Staff with +15 energy
Use the bow for pulling/targeting. The trick is to find the sweet spot, where you’re far enough away that your pet holds agro, but not so far away that your pet will disengage. The exceptions to this rule are rangers and monks/ritualists (except smiters/channelers). In these instances, you want to hold agro, but position yourself behind a wall or other obstacle to keep from taking damage from their attacks. That way you save a lot of energy by not having to heal your pet. The staff is for occasions where you’ve expended your energy and need a boost. The dmg/req on the staff is irrelevant, as long as it has the inherent +10 energy. Just find a staff with crap stats and a nice skin and you’re good to go. You can then throw on a +5 staff head and a fortitude/defense wrapping. You may even want to have a second staff on hand with hale/fortitude mods in the event that things are getting tough and you need that extra 60hp. Sometimes I'll switch to a vamp bow for a little extra damage.
Things to watch out for:
Plague Touch – be careful of inflicting conditions on necros that might throw them back. You don’t want to waste energy on unnecessary healing.
Degen – If your pet is getting hit with heavy degen from hexes/conditions, sometimes the best thing to do is just let it die. At 16 BM your pet will rez with 61% health, hex/condition free, which is better than blowing through your energy spamming heals to keep your pet hovering at 20-30% health with massive degen on it.
Blind – On occasion you’ll have to deal with your pet being blinded and unable to attack. An example of this is with the Skill Eater. He casts Shadow Song, which blinds its targets. In cases like this, you want to try to get in close and draw some of the agro off of your pet. It’s better to have blindness on you and let your pet keep attacking, just be aware of how much damage you’re taking.
Watch your damage output. If you see your pet is missing because of blindness or the enemy is using an evasion stance, stop using attack skills. You’ll just be wasting energy.
Ok, here’s some videos I made. There not the best quality, but you should be able to get the basic idea. They’re rather large, not recommended if you have dial up (hell, I can’t even watch them, a friend of mine was nice enough to let me upload them at her place).

As far as the NF bosses go, I haven’t really tried to “farm” them. I was just playing through the game, and whenever I came across a boss I took a shot at him. So I should point out that I had a full team of hero/henches with me. What I did was use the henches to take down the boss' mob, then send them off far away (until their names gray out in the party window) and then go back in for the kill. If you're going to do it this way, make sure you call targets so that your henches don't start in on the boss and take the kill away from you. As to whether or not they can be done solo, I can’t say yet, haven’t tried. Not all of them can be killed with a pure beast master build. You’ll need to get creative and make use of secondary professions to pull it off.
This build can also be adapted for use in regular pve play. I used it all the way through NF.
Well, that’s about all I can think of for now. If you have any questions, I’ll be happy to answer, just pm me, or post it here. Have fun.
****All credit for this build goes to Craze Horse of {PuP}. He has his own videos up, and they’re all worth watching to learn some of the modifications and techniques of the build. Watch his videos here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AIPdKlVuBRQ

Yes, you know beast mastery has not been a specialty that I naturally turned to as an option (call it guild for using my pet as a meat shield )....However, I may just be altering that perspective. I'll have to check out those vids
I wonder what would happen if we had a guild of beast masterers...we could farm anywhere from the looks of things...just us. I've done that to get totem axes. A guildie and I used to just take pets--just the two of us.
I bet you your thoughts turn to "Oh Shit" when your pet dies and the baddies start coming for you ROFL...I won't go so far as to say you get "scared, " hell its a game...but I imagine your heart speeds up a couple beats.~~Maia |

This build will really make you appreciate just what your pet is capable of. It has an insane amount of both tanking and damage dealing abilities. Craze Horse told me he got the idea for it while using his pet to take on Mursaat. I've tried a little Mursaat farming with it, but didn't have much luck. Need to work on it a little more.
If you have a monk to partner with, you can swap predatory bond for symbiotic bond and watch your pet do some serious tanking, but do not try it without a dedicated healer, or you'll be dead in a matter of seconds. Your pet is tanking an entire mob, taking huge amounts of damage. Even with the damage reduction of call of protection and the halved damage of symbiotic bond, you'll be losing health fast, and symbiotic bond will last about 4 minutes at 16 BM.
It may get a little scary the first few times you try it and your pet dies, but just remember to find the sweet spot. That way you have two possible outcomes: your pet dies and the mob goes back to where they came from, or if they'll chase you but you'll be far enough away to have a head start and get out of agro. And, as mentioned above, there'll be times when you want your pet to die. In my videos you'll see my pet die several times. It's no big deal, just res and repeat until the enemies are dead. You get used to it. And be aware of you're health and energy. Some times you may want to leave your pet dead for a moment to recoup before going back in to the fray.
I think a full team of beast masters would kick ass anywhere they went. If one person can do that much damage, 8 of them would be nigh unstoppable. |

I can safely say that I'm impressed with this build. I watched now 2 of the 3 vids and I think they're great. BTW--you are very daring to not include trolls in your build. I'm not sure that I could be as daring as that. Have to reiterate...this is good stuff.~~Maia
