I think I might have to investigate The Corrs. The lyrics to those songs impressed me.~~Maia

Just found out that they have new album coming out
The Corrs :The ultimate collection. Nov 20 - I think.
samples of the songs are on the offical website.
www.thecorrswebsite.com/

Has songs from just about all their albums, included Home (tradional Irish) and Borrowed Heaven. The rest of their albums are kind of popish. The earlier ones are more irish. They also tend to do one song that is all instrumental.

Not sure if I will purchase it. I would only buy it because of the tin version of a song and the fact that the have the cheiftains singing with them on the one. I pretty much have all their albums.

i just love their version of When The Stars Go Blue [Featuring Bono] but it did not make the album .
Not that Tim Mcgraw does not do a good job, but sorry The Corrs I heard first and i just like it better. Sorry Tim, you're good but I like
Andrea better on this one. -LOL

I have mentioned this song on a personal journal I used to keep and on my new one that I keep, now. It is one of my favorite songs. For some reason, it strikes a cord with me...loving but mildly dominant.~~Maia

Possession by Sarah McLaughlin

Listen as the wind blows
From across the great divide
Voices trapped in yearning
Memories trapped in time
The night is my companion
And solitude my guide
Would I spend forever here
And not be satisfied

Chorus:
And I would be the one
To hold you down
Kiss you so hard
I'll take your breath away
And after I'd wipe away the tears
Just close your eyes dear

Through this world I've stumbled
So many times betrayed
Trying to find an honest word
To find the truth enslaved
Oh you speak to me in riddles and
You speak to me in rhymes
My body aches to
breathe your breath
Your words keep me alive

Chorus

Into this night I wander
It's morning that I dread
Another day of knowing of
The path I fear to tread
Oh into the sea of waking dreams
I follow without pride
Nothing stands between us here
And I won't be denied

Chorus

This has to be my favorite Sarah Brightman song. It's called "Arabian Nights"--a song that is very powerful to me. If you all haven't heard it, you really should. Especially the beginning, the drumming and heavy bellydancing music is simply beautiful.~~Maia

Arabian nights

Part 1: Scimitar moon
Don't you forget the echoes of time
Won't you regret the losing of minds
In my dreams I'm searching
Across the desert sands for you
Scimitar moon is guiding me close to your side

Part 2: Voyage
Voyage, voyage
Voyage, voyage
Wilderness to wilderness
I traveled from afar
On the soft wind of the Nadq
Came fragrance of Araar
Splendor of a thousand suns shone glory in my path
No love more pure and rage more fierce
Could still my beating heart
Voyage, voyage
Voyage, voyage

Part 3: Promise
So
Should I return to trace the shadows of my chases
My steps will echo there from sand to stone
I will never let my eyelids close on empty spaces
My dreams will fill the void with tales unknown
Know the mighty infinite obscures the far horizon
The whispered road I take will never bend
Alone
And will the wind return my story to its promise
Or will my story chase me to my end

Part 4: Hamesha
Yay hava mairay dilber
Ko mairay pyar k geet sunana
Tu hay mairay manzel
Or pyar mairah musafer
Mairay reshmi zulfay
Teri zanjeer
Hamesha

[Translation:
Oh! wind, carry my love song to my boyfriend with you
My duty in life is to find you even if I live my life traveling for you
My cowlick will turn into a chain and will tie you up to me
Every time]

Part 5: Alone
Melodies unspoken
Flowing from the lotus of my heart
Ending where we start

Promises unbroken
Promising a never-ending fire
Of love beyond desire

Ending where we start

Thought you might like this one Steph. Too bad not out just yet. Nov 21, 2006 I believe.

“Tell me, O Muse, of those who travelled far and wide”

Aptly, it is an echo of Homer’s timeless Odyssey that introduces Loreena McKennitt’s seventh studio recording, the latest volume of a project she describes as “musical travel writing”. This time, the journey takes her in search of the Celts’ easternmost paths, from the plains of Mongolia to the kingdom of King Midas and the Byzantine Empire. Along the way, she muses on the concepts of home, of travel in all its incarnations, of the cultural intermingling that underpins human history and our universal legacies of conflict and hope.

Recorded at Real World Studios and featuring a host of acclaimed musicians, the album proffers a treasure trove of instruments, from harp, hurdy-gurdy and accordion to oud, lyra, kanoun and nyckelharpa (the Scandinavian keyed fiddle). Highlights include the seductive rhythms and Silk Road influences of first single “Caravanserai”; “Penelope’s Song”, a paean to steadfast love; and Loreena’s musical setting of Sir Walter Scott’s poem of star-crossed romance, “The English Ladye And The Knight”. Together, the nine songs that comprise An Ancient Muse conjure up a wide world’s worth of human stories that are as unique as they are unforgettable.

I passed this one up By Sarah Mclachlan at first and now I find out it is one of my favorites.
It got a little overshadowed by Angel, Adia, sweet surrender and I can go on. Surfacing - love it, there's 6 songs - i listen too.

Make me a witness
take me out
out of darkness
out of doubt

I won't weigh you down
with good intention
won't make fire out of clay
or other inventions

Will we burn in heaven
like we do down here
will the change come
while we're waiting

Everyone is waiting

And when we're done
soul searching
as we carried the weight
and died for a cause
is misery
made beautiful
right before our eyes
will mercy be revealed
or blind us where we stand

Will we burn in heaven
like we do down here
will the change come while we're waiting
everyone is waiting

AHHH yes, I love that song too. Very passionate. Its is a song I like by Sarah Mclaughlin, also. I can hear it over and over again.

Thank for letting us know about the, sounds like, new album from Lorenna. I will be looking out for it--as I am an avid Lorenna fan and have almost all of her music (the Christmas album, I didn't buy). The one coming out sounds interesting. I'd like to know what she does with Byzantine influence. Good stuff!!~~Maia

Here's one for you
Anggun
also title for albumn ( snow on the sahara)
a little Indonesian for you
(well not so much on this one)
now

Snow on the Sahara

Only tell me that you still want me here
When you wander off out there
To those hills of dust and hard winds that blow
In that dry white ocean alone
Lost out in the desert
you are lost out in the desert
But to stand with you in a ring of fire
I'll forget the days gone by
I'll protect your body and guard your soul
From mirages in your sight
Lost out in the desert
If your hopes scatter like the dust across your track
I'll be the moon that shines on your path
The sun may blind our eyes, I'll pray the skies above
for snow to fall on the Sahara
If that's the only place where you can leave your doubts
I'll hold you up and be your way out
And if we burn away, I'll pray the skies above for snow to fall on the Sahara
Just a wish and I will cover your shoulders
With veils of silk and gold
When the shadows come and darken your heart
Leaving you with regrets so cold
Lost out in the desert
If your hopes scatter like the dust across your track
I'll be the moon that shines on your path
The sun may blind our eyes, I'll pray the skies above
for snow to fall on the Sahara
If that's the only place where you can leave your doubts
I'll hold you up and be your way out
And if we burn away, I'll pray the skies above for snow to fall on the Sahara

now this one has a lot of Indonesian
Selamanya

Kuharap sinar rembulan,
tutup mataku....
Selamanya
Sejak kau pergi,
tinggalkan bumi,
tinggalku disini
Turunkan matahari,
Usir bintang-bintang,
Putarlah utara ke selatan,
Untuk apa lagi semuanya
Ambilah jiwa retak ini,
ku tak ingin lagi,
Putaskan ari-ari bumi,
aku ingin pergi.
Menuju abadi...
Selamanya

and this one - well what can i say
it says it all

By the Moon

Gold and Amber
Shining through
Swear by the moon
I'll wait for you
Silent treasures
Tender blushes
Soft surrender
To discover
Feel the wings
We whisper and sigh
As the angels glide
On the touch of our skin
A fragile voice I hear
That trembles and deceives
The deep blue oceans in your eyes
Desire grows inside
Veils of mist
Covered kisses
Swear by the moon
I want you
Pearls of steam
And the dance begins
Free the heat
Make us stronger still
No more promises
We are here tonight
Come together in sweet firelight
Here until dawn
Sets us both apart
A love that's true
Swear by the moon
I live for you, for you
For you, for you, forever for you
Precious hours
Fires dying down
While the night gives way to clear morning light
Perfumes gracing
The senses of our souls
A love that's true
Swear by the moon
I'll be here for you, for you, forever for you
For you, for you, forever for you
